Fantasy Football Draft Day Decisions
My Guide to Making the Right Pick on Fantasy Football Draft Day

Runningbacks, Runningbacks, RunningbacksFor the past two years, if your first overall pick isn't LaDainian Tomlinson then you are the laughing stock of the draft room. He has dominated fantasy football for many years and he's the best in the business. It's all about runningbacks in this fine game, ever since my first draft in 1999 runningbacks rack up the best numbers, simple as that. After (LT) is picked then you have the decision of either Larry Johnson or Steve Jackson. Although Johnson is rated higher, If i were in this situation i would pick Steven Jackson because of his pass catching virsitility. After the "gems" are taken the next few backs are all so even that it depends on who you think best fits your style. I rate them like so:
Frank Gore
Shaun Alexander
Joseph Addai
Rudi Johnson
Willie Parker
Ronnie Brown
Brian Westbrook
Peyton Manning*
Lawrence Maroney
When the second round comes along many people look for another runningback to add to the arsenal. Others like to explore for a reciever or quarterback and the ones chosen are usually Smith, Holt, Johnson, and Harrison. Quarterback wise the 2nd best one is usually taken in the second round (Carson Palmer).
My advise to you is to join the "hip" thing to do, pick a runningback. Im telling you that the best reciever puts up simular numbers to the 20th best runningback.
3rd. round I think its time to pick a quarterback. There are four to pick from at this point: Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Marc Bulger, and Donovan McNabb. After those are gone you guys are in big trouble because the list drops from there to Vince Young and Matt Hassleback. Thats a big drop. In the 4th and 5th round you are going to be surprised with the talent still on the board at the reciever position. I usually pick my recievers at this point because i locked down my Backs and QB and every pick feels like a steal. Guys I've seen on the board include: Javon Walker, Andre Johnson, Lee Evans, Donald Driver, Plaxico Burress, and Hines Ward. After two recievers are picked I look for a sleeper at tight end that still can be one of the best, like Jason Witten or Kellen Winslow.
