Having lived in Phoenix, Arizona for years, I was constantly searching for a pragmatic solution to the pesky and downright irritating problem of hard water. Never mind the scale it left behind on my (newly replaced) bathroom faucets and beautiful porcelain bathtub, hard water would wreak havoc on my already dry sensitive skin and parched, over-processed hair. My poor husband constantly dealt with harsh razor burn he incurred from the hard water (yes, hard water actually does cause razor burn and other skin irritations).

After doing a little homework and checking out recommendations I had received from friends and family, I came to the conclusion that a water softener was the best option. Water softener conditioning systems remove the hard minerals calcium and magnesium from a household water supply by filtering it through a resin softening medium, providing soft water access throughout the entire house.

Having a conditioning system installed was much less than I had anticipated (mere hundreds compared to the thousands I had imagined); a small price to pay in my mind in order to enjoy the many benefits of soft, conditioned water. When purchased at an impartial and reasonable price, the system will actually pay for itself many times over.

Having an Arizona water softener installed has not only improved the condition of my skin (including eliminating that yucky soap build up sometimes left on skin after bathing), my dishes are cleaner (spot-free) and my clothes come out of the washing machine brighter. Since hard water impairs the cleansing strength of most soaps, I now use half of the hand soap, clothing detergent, and cleaning products than I did previously. If you are an Arizona resident still dealing with hard water and its bothersome effects, consider having an Arizona water softener installed.
