How to Get Seven Jewish Wedding Blessings into Your Wedding

Most Jewish wedding ceremonies include the Seven Jewish Wedding Blessings as part of the ceremony. These blessings are usually read by either the Rabbi or family members. These readings give honor to God and bless the couple and their new life together. These blessings are often times read in Hebrew in a Jewish ceremony. If they are included in an interfaith ceremony they are often read in both Hebrew and English.

The Seven Blessings.
The first blessing is the Blessing of Wine. This blessing is used in almost all Jewish life cycle ceremonies. This blessing honors God, the Creator of the Universe and the Fruit of the Vine. The second blessing is to honor God who created everything for His glory. The third blessing honors God who created human beings. The fourth blessing honors God for creating humans in His image, molding us to be like Him. The fifth blessing honors God for gathering His chosen people in Jerusalem. The sixth blessing honors God for gladdening beloved companions and gladdening the bride and groom. The seventh blessing honors and thanks God for joy, song, exuberance, and the love and union of the bride and groom.

Options for Reading the Blessings and Creating Personalized Blessings.
Many times the couple will ask friends or relatives to read some or all of the blessings. Other times a couple decides to have the entire congregation read the blessings from the wedding program. Couples can also create their own blessing to incorporate into the ceremony to honor each other.
