The Associated Press is reporting that presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama is throwing strong accusations at the Religious Right in an attempt to gain more support from religious for his campaign. He is accusing the Religious Right of, "hijacking," religion from the Democrats.

While at a religious convention on Saturday, Senator Obama made strong accusations that the Religious Right has taken major steps in the past to make sure that the Democratic Party appears to be against religion. He believes that some of the evangelical leaders of the Republican Party have done what they could to make the Democrats appear like they are immoral.

Senator Obama has stated that he believes that the Religious Right has used religion to separate people, instead of using it to unify people. He believes that, "faith got hijacked," so that the leaders of the Religious Right could exploit the differences in opinion that make up the United States.

During his thirty-minute speech to members of the United Church of Christ, Senator Obama pointed out many issues that the Religious Right has made imperative to many Americans. Senator Obama believes that the Religious Right is using topics like abortion, gay marriage, school prayer, and intelligent design to make the Democratic candidates look like they are for pushing immorality in the United States.

Senator Obama has made it clear that he believes that these issues should be up to the States, not the Federal Government. He has pointed out on many occasions that he believes that the proposed amendment that would ban gay marriage is wrong.

Senator Obama explained that he believes that the Religious Right has had a strong hand in confusing people as to what topics should be left for States to decide, and which ones should be determined by the Federal Government. He thins that the Religious Right is wrong in their statements, and that they are not good for the American community.

He even pointed out the Christian Coalition in his speech. He believes that they have interpreted the Bible in their own way in an attempt to push their own views and agendas on the American people.

Opponents of this guy point to his ability to give an intelligent and persuasive speech as some sort of weakness, as if "talking the talk" precludes "walking the walk". I personally can't wait to see this type of intelligence and high morality in action. The US is on the verge of recreating themselves as something new and infinitely better, if they choose to take the leap. Please, please, go for it.

I do not see much difference between fundamentalist christians( ?) and fundamentalist muslims. Both are dogmatic and believe God has shared his "Vengeance is mine" power with them.

Because he choose his religion (as opposite of most people that simply believe because their parents believed) and became a devout Christian, he has stated that he will be guided by Christian principles, but is able to serve a diverse nation that includes religions other than his own.

Oops, that was the God of the Hebrew/Christian Bible that gave humans "free will" and reserved judgement and punishment to be His alone. Freedom of choice or liberty was written into the Constitution, "in order to form a more perfect union", something the "righties" want abolished, along with "Separation of Church and State"; no democracy for them, thank you. Obama said something like he suspects government that forces religous beliefs upon citizens, even if the religous beliefs are his own.

I would tend to agree that this Republican held Congress has all but destroyed the country. As near as I can tell, Christians still hold to the 10 Commandents, one of which states: Thou Shalt Not Kill. But let me mention "pro-peace" sentiments and I am quickly labeled a "bleeding-heart, leftie, liberal, Democrat, hippie" and brainwashed, as well. The "righties" forget Christ's own teachings about judging others, hypocricy, love and freedom of choice.
