In dealing with dry skin for quite a few years, I have given many liquid body washes a try--even though the best approach is very little to no soap on extremely dry skin, I get hooked by the pleasant scents and hopes that this one will be smoothing. So I gave two recently new liquid body washes a try recently--deciding to see about their promises of being specifically for extremely dry skin.

The first body wash I tried was Oil of Olay Ribbons. This particular body wash was literally striped with ribbons of pure lotion and almond oil along with the soap. There are several choices in scents and colors, the one I tried was pink and white, in a see-through squeeze bottle.

In the shower, this soap behaved like any other dry skin liquid body wash I have used before and felt creamy and smooth. Oil of Olay Ribbons lathered up great bubbles, smelling wonderfully soothing and fresh. My dry skin seemed to soak it up and still feel soft. The real test would come after the shower. In my experience with such liquid body washes, while they seem creamy and leave my skin feeling softer, once out of the shower, the staying power is very minimal. Once I'm dried off, even patting myself dry gently like us dry skin people do, the smoothness does not typically last long at all. On one hand, that's a testament to how extremely dry my skin is, but on the other hand, the body washes I've used have been specifically for dry skin--so the expectations were reasonable that my skin would remain somewhat softer than usual.

However, this one was different. This Oil of Olay Ribbons body wash actually measured up much, much better than any I had tried before. After drying off and going about my business, my skin stayed softer longer than it has in the past when using other body washes--even others made specifically for dry skin. Needless to say, I was highly impressed and thought I will surely use Oil of Olay Ribbons in the future.

I curbed my enthusiasm for Oil of Olay Ribbons before deciding it was 'the' one to keep using, having heard lots of hype and good things about another body wash for extremely dry skin as well-- Dove's new Cream Oil.
