When dining in Chicago, the choices for good food are vast. From ribs to beef sandwiches to Italian food, there is no shortage of places to eat. But if you're dining in the Edgebrook neighborhood, there is only one place to recommend above all others: Colletti's Dining & Banquets at 5707 North Central Avenue.

Currently voted #1 ribs at the Chicago Rib Fest, Colletti's has a vast assortment of fine dining selections at a reasonable price. I had a chance to eat there just the other night, and once again, was more than pleased with the results.

The ambiance of the restaurant is quiet and leans more to the upscale side. It's dimly lit with a nice table display. There is both smoking and non smoking sections. They have a great room which can be rented for parties and events. The main eating area is quaint and comfortable. You're given enough space to not feel crowded. My dining party was located near the kitchen.

I started my meal with the minestrone. I've spoken of having eaten minestrone in my last review, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for the soup if it is made well. And I must say that it might be the best minestrone that I have ever had. The bowl is proportioned well. It's enough for an appetizer. I felt it had just the right amount of kick to its flavor. I've had minestrone in the past that was rather bland, but this needed nothing more than the parmesan cheese. It's a family recipe that they serve and it is well worth the try.
