Brownies are a delicious dessert that can be made at home in less than an hour. Thanks to companies like Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, and Pillsbury, brownies can be made from a mix or simply by placing batter into a pan and baking. But, plain store bought brownies can be a little boring. Also you may feel a little guilty serving your family something you didn't make from scratch. Luckily, there are several ways to you to jazz up those boring store bought brownies.Jazz Up Store Bought Brownies: Ingredients to Add to the Mix
You can jazz up store bought brownies simply by stirring ingredients into the batter. For example, you can add a shot of espresso to your store bought brownies. The espresso will actually enhance the flavor of the chocolate. You can also add ingredients like chocolate chips, nuts, and even candy to your store bought brownies. A few of my favorite additions include:
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Reese's Pieces
M&Ms
Chocolate Chips
Andy's Mints
Crushed Peppermints
Nuts
Jazz Up Store Bought Brownies: Frostings
Another great way to jazz up store bought brownies is to frost them. If you want, you can grab store bought frosting, when you buy your store bought brownies. You can either leave this frosting as is or you can also flavor the frosting as well. You can add extract, juices, and even coffee to add flavor to store bought frosting.
The other option you have is to make homemade frosting. You could make buttercream frosting, cream cheese frosting, or even peanut butter frosting. I must say that one of my favorite frostings for store bought brownies is peanut butter cream cheese frosting. A peanut butter cream cheese frosting is simply cream cheese, powdered sugar, and creamy peanut butter, but it's delicious on brownies.

If you want to make your store bought brownies even more special, you can add toppings. Toppings are a wonderful way jazz up store bought brownies. Toppings can be something as simple as candy pieces, chopped nuts, or even mini chocolate chips. It can also be sundae toppings, such as hot fudge or caramel sauce.
