There is a wide range of thought on gun control form the Third Party Candidates who have their positions on their Presidential web sites ranging from doing nothing to repealing all existing gun control laws. It all stems from the Second Amendment to the Constitution:
Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Does the amendment refer only to bearing arms to raise a militia? The Constitutional Convention in 1789 provided for the Federal government to levy taxes to raise an Army and navy, but by 1791, not much had been done and they recognized in the Second Amendment the need to still have militias. Another point to consider is Should gun control legislation be a Federal or State matter? The militias mentioned in the amendment were raised by the individual states. One thing for sure, gun control is not an issue that is clear, black on white and one that everyone will not come agreement on.

Check out these Third Party Candidates and see if you agree, even in part wit any of them.

There are almost as many ways to interpret the Second Amendment as there are Candidates with positions on gun control.
