Scientist Accuses UN Group of Fraudulent Statements About the Rise of Sea Levels

One of the consequences of global warming, according to proponents of the theory, is a catastrophic rise in sea levels. A Swedish scientist, who was interviewed by George Murphy of Executive Intelligence Review, claims that scientists working for the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have provided false data and destroyed evidence related to the rise in sea levels.

In the interview, portions of which were posted on the Argentinean Foundation for A Scientific Ecology website, Nils-Axel Morner, a paleogeophysicist, accuses the IPCC scientists of actions to "incorrectly prove their point." Morner has devoted nearly 40 years of his life to the study of sea levels and, according to the article, says that the claims made by IPCC personnel are "a lot of nonsense."

Morner points to several factors related to sea level rise. For example, there was a rise in sea levels during the period 1850 to approximately 1930-40 of 1.1 millimeters per year. After 1940, says Morner, there was no rise until 1970. It is this latest rise, Morner contends, that has caused the current debate between global warming proponents and opponents.

One way to check the rise, according to Morner, is to look at the rate of rotation of the earth. He says, according to the article, "If the radius of the earth increases, because sea level is rising, then immediately the earth's rate of rotation would slow down. That is a physical law, right? You have it in figure-skating: when they rotate very fast, the arms are close to the body; and then when they increase the radius, by putting out their arms, they stop by themselves. So you can look at the rotation and the same [figure] comes up: Yes, it might be 1.1 mm per year, but absolutely not more."

Morner then noted what he called errors or deliberate falsifications by the IPCC. One was choosing tide measurements from an area of Hong Kong which is known as an area in which the sea level is subsiding, but appears to be rising because of sediment compaction. According to Morner, it is the "only record which you shouldn't use," yet that was the measurement chosen by IPCC scientists.

I recently watched a TV programme abount rising sea levels threatening the Marshall Islands. As the commentator spoke about global warming, the picture showed the last vestiges of the mangroves that used to protect the islands. I have seen this year the same situation on the Bornean coast. The mangroves go, the palm trees are killed by salt water and undermined by coastal erosion. The question to be asked of the programme makers and presenters - are they liars or lamebrains?

I'm surprised that UN is trying to downplay global warming since they usually are trying to build stuff like this up. I happen to think that there is global warming but it's been going on since the last ice age so there probably isn't much we can do to stop it. All we can do it buckle our seatbelts and put on our helmets 'cause it's going to be an interesting ride. We actually experienced some of that weirdness today with a large tornado in the mountains at 8000+ feet.

I don't think Morner is denying global warming; he is denying that the consequences are going to be as catastrophic as some scientists claim.

While I do believe there is a trend toward Global Warming, I also do not doubt for a moment that things are being falsified... on both sides... to support whichever argument someone is trying to support. Like Morner says (in so many words) this is crap.

Global warming is occurring on other planets too, even Pluto. The question scientists on Earth, however, have to ask themselves is whether or not humans are wholly to blame for this planet's warming, partly to blame, or not to blame at all. It is always good to keep an open mind and to look at all of the data and the conclusions reached by as many scientists as possible as there is undoubtedly a political agenda now with global warming.

Nothing personal, but global warming denial is as brainless as evolution denial. That website you cite is a real doozy! I suspect that your "scientist" is not much of a scientist.

Well, this is astonding and if true an horrific accusation. We'll have to keep watch for how this one works out....

Typo: "unethical means conduct" should be "unethical means".

This is astounding! Thank you for sharing this news; it casts further doubt on global warming alarmism and shows its nature as such. Rather than practicing genuine science, the global warming propagandists are willing to use even unethical means conduct to advance their political agenda.
