Vitamin Supplements for Your Baby
Premature babies will generally get different medications; however, healthy full-term babies may sometimes get an extra boost of vitamins as well.
Fluoride
Now, you may be wondering why fluoride is important. Fluoride is essential in the building of strong, healthy teeth as it help prevent decay. Most drinking water has already been fluoridated, and if they don't, most toothpaste contains some fluoride in them. If you help your baby brush their teeth, make sure that only a small pea size like it says on the back of the tube is used. Too much fluoride can also cause harm. Also, fluoride can be found in foods like vegetables, and grains. Although fluoride can be found everywhere, if there isn't a source of fluoridated products around, you may have to add some fluoride supplement to your baby's diet.
Vitamin D
Prepared infant formulas and even breast milk generally have this sort of vitamin in them; even if they don't lots of food sources have Vitamin D in them. If there is no found Vitamin D in the food they eat, Vitamin D can also be synthesized from sunlight; however, many parents now consider placing their babies in area where the sunlight won't reach them to help protect their skin; thus, some doctors may prescribe some Vitamin D, usually along with other vitamins, for your baby to take in their daily diet.
