Socializing Tips for Teens with ADHD

For teens with ADHD, they may find it a harder experience to fit in sometimes. Socializing and finding the right cliché may be hard enough; here are a couple of socializing tips for teens who are experiencing ADHD to make the whole thing just a whole lot easier. Even if you are not experiencing ADHD or not experiencing any social problems, these tips can definitely help you improve the communication you're having.Frequent eye contact
During conversations, make sure that you have frequent eye contact with the other person. Even if you get distracted, try to remember that you are having a conversation with someone, and try to stick with it. The more interesting the conversation is, the harder it will be for things to distract you. Eye contact will show the other person you are interested in the topic, and you have confidence in yourself. Remember, confidence can draw people to you.
Let your friends, and peers know you have ADHD
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with letting other people like your friends and peers know you have ADHD; in fact, it can definitely help you when explaining why you're late or have forgotten something again. If you feel embarrassed to tell them at this moment, think about how much embarrassment it might save you from in the future; at least then, you won't have to explain yourself to them. It'll also be another way to let them get to know you more.
Practice expressing yourself
While you're on the bus, or perhaps when you have free time, you can consider ways of expressing yourself, and which one is the most appropriate or is the most comfortable for you. Learning how to express yourself properly or in what situation will definitely save you even if you don't have ADHD. Observing others, and practicing your own skills will only make socializing in different situations that much easier. At the same time, you may also want to learn how to read expressions from other people, so it will be easier for you to communicate with them. Remember, communication isn't just what they're saying, the tone of their voice, and body language are two extremely important aspects as well.
