Could Carrie Underwood's Latest Song Encourage People to Destroy Cars?

I am personally a huge fan of Carrie Underwood. I think that she is one of the best things that has yet to come from American Idol. While I absolutely love her latest song, Before He Cheats, I really have to wonder whether or not it is sending the right message out to

The song, Before He Cheats, is about a woman who gets cheated on by her boyfriend or husband when he goes to the bar. To get the perfect revenge, she completely destroys his car. The chorus of her song lyrics say, "I dug my key into the side of his pretty little
suped up four wheel drive, carved my name into the leather seat, I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all four tires." According to the song, the whole point of her destroying the car is so that maybe he will think the next time that he cheats.

In the past, many people have tried to throw blame on performers such as Eminem and Marilyn Manson for actions that others have made. Since this is the United States, people can more or less sing whatever they want - as well as listen to whatever they want. Of course, Carrie Underwood's song lyrics are not half as bad as what it is out there.

The only reason that I am questioning if Carrie Underwood's song is the right influence for both girls and boys is because of some of the reactions that I have heard from several different people. Not only do they find it funny, but many of them claim that if they were to ever be cheated on, they also claim that they would do the same thing that Carrie Underwood sings about in her song. Whether or not they would actually do it is a whole other question, but it seems as though the lyrics to this song just may have put ideas in someone's head.

If you are planning on cheating, it is probably a good idea to make sure that you do your best to hide your car. You never know who may try to dig a key into the side of your car, carve their name into your leather seat, hit both headlights out with a baseball bat and slash a hole in all four tires - especially if you are dating a Carrie Underwood fan!

I think people need to stop trying to blame others for their own stupidity. People need to stop blaming entertainment for things people do. If someone where to do what she's saying in her song, it isn't her fault, it is the fault of the individual messing up the car. I mean all this sueing companies for the peoples own stupidity is getting out of hand. If I eat Burger King everyday for a year then gain 100lbs I can't expect to sue them for making me fat. If I spill hot coffee on myself from Starbucks I can't sue them because it's hot. Just like if I slashed someone's tires becuase they cheated on me, then went to jail for vandalizim I can't sue Carrie Underwood.

I think it's sending out the right message to those cheating b_stards. Just like the movie, Fatal Attraction, with Glenn Close: it straightened men out for a good long time! And thank you Lorena Bobbit for really making them scared! Unfortunatley, men are like little kids...if there's no consequence for their action they'll just keep doing it.

I agree. I just think that some people may take it the wrong way.

The song was about emotion and dealing with emotion. It's not encouraging anyone to go out and destroy a car. We need to learn to think with our own brains - not with those of performers.
