Missouri's Governor Matt Blunt is not just the second youngest Governor in state history but ranks as one of the youngest current governors in the United States.  Elected to office in November, 2004 at the age of 33, Blunt's star seems to be just rising.   A Republican, he comes from a political family with national clout.   His father, Roy Blunt, is a former Missouri state official and is currently serving as House Majority Whip in the United States Senate.  As the son of Roy and Roseann Blunt, young Matthew was born in Springfield on November 20, 1970.   His mother was Roy Blunt's first wife.

Raised in the Ozark city of Springfield (Missouri's third largest city), Blunt received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland after his high school graduation.   He graduated from the Naval Academy with a Bachelor's degree in History and became a Naval officer.  In 1998, he was elected as a Republican representative to the Missouri House of Representatives and represented the 139th district for a two year term of office.   After that term, Blunt ran for the office of Missouri Secretary of State and won the election, defeating the Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives.   In 2000, he was the sole Republican elected to state office in Missouri.

After the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, Blunt was called back to active duty.  He served six months as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Great Britian and then returned to the Show-Me State to complete his term as Secretary of State.

On November 4, 2004, he won the race for Governor and defeated  his opponent, State Auditor Claire McCaskill by a majority vote. Blunt made history when he took office in January 2005 by becoming the first Republican governer since 1921 to take office with a  Republican majority in both houses of the Missouri Legislalture.

I am in a no win situation with the Missouri Child Support Enforcement. They have recieved all the paperwork they requested and still they won't collect on the $26,981.40 my exhusband owes in arrears. They say the want an updated pay history when there have been no payments made since they recieved the last pay history. They refuse to talk to me about my case. They refuse to cooperate with Florida (the state I now reside in). In essence they are hiding him and sheltering him from having to pay his support order. I have not received a payment in over a year since he moved to MO. He has now rent to pay no house payments and very few bills so he is having a grand time with not having to pay support either. This is not fair and I think that MO should be ashamed for their actions.

Dear Governer Blunt, I plead for your mercy. Return my daughter Olivia Michelle Collier, whom was taken from me by DFS.Whom I love with all my heat and soul. I would never hurt her. My Ex husbands parents , have bared false witness against me. In my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together against me. They told many lies. Aug. 17 will be the day I lose her forever. Please help!

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement in response to Republicans pushing restrictive voter ID measures in Missouri: "Once again Republicans have succeeded in their efforts to disenfranchise lawful voters. This time Republicans in Missouri have enacted a restrictive law that would require eligible voters to present a state issued photo ID when going to the polls to vote. Current law allows voters to present other forms of ID including utility bills, bank statements, or a paycheck. To justify these restrictive measures, Republicans are falsely claiming that voter fraud continues to be a big problem. "This law is so restrictive that eligible voters will be denied access to the polls even if they present a voter registration card. To make matters worse voter ID laws also disproportionately affect rural voters, seniors, minorities, disabled voters and young people who often have a harder time obtaining a state issued photo identification.
