High School Football Blue Chip Recruit Jamie Harper

Is Jamie Harper Bound for the Florida Gators?

Last year's NCAA Football champions, the Florida Gators, are looking to continue their winning ways and one quick way to do that is by recruiting a top prep running back to shore up their offense. Topping the list of recruits they are after this year is former Trinity
Christian (Jacksonville) star Jamie Harper. Harper a 2007 top 10 running back prospect has the big game breaking ability that would benefit the Gators or any other Florida school for that matter. Though he has shown some interest in Florida State, Harper has the Gators penciled in as one of his two top schools of choice thus far, the other being Clemson.

The powerfully built 6-foot, 210 pound running back with the 4.4 speed comes with an array of moves and cuts that will play well at any of the big schools. Harper has explosive speed that makes him hard to catch once he reaches the open field, yet this is no north and south runner who relies solely on speed. Jamie flashes excellent quickness and power as well. He is able to dart through the line as easily as he can bounce a run to outside and out run a defense. When all else fails this blue chip prospect has the size to simply run over those in his way. This kid is hard to bring down on the initial hit, a quality any school wants to see in their starting back. Watching him on tape you are reminded of a modern day Tony Dorsett, a Dorsett with a bit stronger upper body at this stage of development.

Though Harper is also a decent linebacker prospect, it would be a shame to see a runner with such great vision and instincts start at any other position than halfback. Jamie's career at Trinity Christian was impressive, the star back accumulated over 3,000 yard and more than 20 touchdowns over the past two seasons. With Harper as their starting back, Trinity Christian finished their 2006 season undefeated failing to score over 40 points in a game only twice.
