The selection and stay in any hotel in India is a tricky affair and needs to be tackled very carefully. This is in view of the safety and security hazards and the convenience of all of us. If you can afford to stay in a five star or four star luxury hotels, the selection process and the stay becomes very simple and enjoyable. However, all of us cannot afford to stay in such luxury hotels and for such middle class tourists, lots of factors are to be carefully considered prior to deciding on staying in any hotel in India. 1. Location- The location of the hotel plays a very important role in selecting a hotel for stay in India. The hotel must be near to the railway station and the bus station. It must not be situated in an isolated area, away from the city and the shopping streets. The suburban area is the most preferable. Make sure that there is no movie theater very near to the hotel as this will give you a lot of disturbance till late night hours and the exposure to the vulgar crowd.
2. Facilities- Check in detail the facilities provided by the hotel. The room must be seen before you decide to stay. The room must have a carpet, good double beds, sofa, chair and a writing table. The toilet must be attached with the room, having cold and hot water facilities for all 24 hours. The bath tub facility is generally not available in middle class hotels in India.
Check on availability of restaurants either in the hotel, or very near to it. Check if room service is available at the same cost as in the restaurants. Ensure check in and check out timings policy of the hotel. Some hotels have check out by 12 noon everyday. While some hotels offer 24 hours check out. 24 hours check out is certainly a better alternative. Make sure that colored TV is provided in the room with the channel connection. Also, check on numbers of channels available for view. Normally, around 100 channels are available in any middle class hotels.
