Playboy, the ultra well-known men's magazine featuring ultra sexy and semi-clothed to full nude ladies, is coming to the big screen. Well, the life of its founder anyway is set to be the topic of a new film. Hugh Hefner has granted the green light for the biopic.

As reported in Variety producer Brain Grazer optioned the rights to Hugh Hefner's life story several years ago. However, a failed musical attempt at the story and several writing attempts by Oliver Stone later and it seems that Grazer has finally put the right team in place to get the 81 year old Hefner's approval. Variety reports that Brain Grazer will produce, Brett Ratner is set to direct, and the screenplay is being penned by John Hoffman.

Director Brett Ratner, who helmed X-Men 3, is currently involved with a heist caper film reported by Dark Horizons as an "African-American Ocean's 11". However, Ratner currently awaits a rewrite on the script for the as of yet untitled project which will be centered around events in the Trump Tower as approved by Donald Trump. The Playboy script has just been started and the race is on as far as which project Ratner will shoot first. Variety quotes Ratner as saying: "I want to show it all, from the First Amendment struggles to his first orgy to the stroke in the 1980s that almost killed him."

Brain Grazer is a well known producer who was the executive producer of shows such as 24 and Friday Night Lights. His next produced film coming to theatres appears to be American Gangster starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, as directed by Ridley Scott.

Screenwriter John Hoffman is said by Variety to have most recently written a script for Bill Condon to direct, entitled Queen of the Jews. Queen of the Jews is another biopic, only it is about the scandal surrounding former Miss America Bess Myerson.

I say it's about time. I think George Clooney should play him.

I'll definitely be checking this one out, if nothing else for the scantily clad ladies, but I hope Grazer and company do a good job because it has potential to be a really solid, interesting story.

Good for Hef. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who still envy him. It appears as though he has lived his life---------his way.
