As a frequent flier, I have been both impressed and unimpressed by particular airlines. There are many choices in air travel these days despite the continual worry of bankruptcy among some airlines. The three airlines that I have taken most recently between New York and West Palm Beach and New York and Chicago are Jet Blue, Delta Song, and United.

Jet Blue (www.jetblue.com) offers direct service to limited locations but beneficially to some secondary airports including Burbank, CA. Fares are generally fairly low and do not include transfers (by and large, though some are offered through major airports like JFK). Flights are generally cheap and rarely cost more than $200 for a round trip through major airports. The services afforded you by Jet Blue are pleasing including a multi-channel cable television, for your seat alone. Free head phones can be used to play music, TV, or an in-flight trivia game. Jet Blue keeps costs down by not having unionized workers and by having many flights to just a few airports. Another benefit of Jet Blue is that the space between seats is ample and the blue snacks that they serve are very fun.

Jet Blue has some negatives including limited travel availability at good times. There are times to fly from early to late and include prices from as low as $69 one-way to as high as $399 one-way. The way flights are offered are not as packages but as separate one-way trips which is beneficial if you can find a flight on another airline for cheaper one-way but it is also annoying because it gives you a limited choice of flying places and times if you really want a good fare on the airline.

Takeaways
  • Jet Blue offers value.
  • Song offers good fun.
  • United offers fine service.
