As an avid fan of audio books, I am often frustrated by the fact that it takes so many discs for one audio book. I have a portable DVD player but unfortunately it does not play mp3 Cd's. So I was stuck carrying round 2 or 3 Cd's (about 3 hours or so worth of the book) or if going somewhere for a long time maybe 23 (yes Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is 23 Cd's worth).

So I looked around the Internet and finally came up with a nifty little piece of software that will take my "ripped" audio tracks and turn them into an Audio DVD.

As a quick side note I had tried some of the movie-authoring software out on the market and was very disappointed. Some of the problems I had with these types of software included but not limited to, they would not let me create audio only, the time it took for these particular programs to convert the audio material into what I call "burnable" material, the time it took me to "create my project".

I did come up with a solution for the lack of audio only support, I just added a picture to the project and stretched it throughout the whole time line. (Took a surprisingly long time to do).

So I was lucky to find Audio DVD Creator by Goland Tech Ltd.

You can take a look at their web page here: http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/

This program for me was a god-send, at $40 it may be expensive for some people, but to me it was money well spent.

Some quick information about the product:

1) Audio DVD Creator supports:

MP3, WAV, Windows Media Format (.wma, .wmv, .asf), Real Media (.rm), OGG, FLAC, AC3 and AVI.

2) Currently, Audio DVD Creator only supports media files recorded at 22.05 kHz, 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz. It supports both PCM and AC3 formats.

*please note that Audio DVD does not support DRM-protected WMA files. So this will include a lot of downloaded content from sources such as iTunes and Napster.

Here is a quick guide on how to use Audio DVD Creator.

Did You Know?
Audio DVD's are supported by all DVD players that play writable DVD media. With some DVD players not being able to play mp3 Cd's, this is a workaround to limit the amount of Cd's that need to be carried around or stored.
