Paper Crafts: Homemade Glue Recipe for Kid Crafts

Ingredients for the Homemade Glue Recipe
First, a note about measurements. Kids, know the standard abbreviations for recipes when making anything in the kitchen.
tspn = teaspoon
tbspn = tablespoon
Okay, onto the ingredients!
1 tbspn white vinegar
3 tbspns water
1 tspn liquid glycerin
2 1/2 tspns of of unflavored gelatin - don't use flavored Jell-o! Save that for snack time!
Liquid glycerin can be purchased at a local drugstore or any arts and crafts supply store which sells soap making or lotion making supplies. Liquid glycerin sounds like a big nasty chemical, but it is a natural product derived from plants and or from animals.

one handled cooking pan
a working stove burner
one adult
a big spoon
measuring spoons
one small bowl
one small cup
one small recylced jar with lid
Kids Help Prepare the Work Space:Cover the tabletop with some recycled paper. Go in the cabinets and find all of theingredients you need to make this homemade glue recipe.
How to Make Homemade Glue for Paper Crafts

Kids can help make the homemade glue for paper crafts by pre-measuring some ingredients into the small bowl.
Take the measuring spoons and measure the 2 1/2 tspns of of unflavored gelatin and pour it into a small bowl cup.
In a different bowl or cup, pour in one tablespoon of white vinegar plus the one teaspoon of liquid glycerin.
While the child helper is measuring those ingredients, the adult can boil the water on the stove in the pan.
When it water comes to a full boil, which you can tell by the big bubbles, it's time to add the gelatin.
Now the adult can add the gelatin to the boiling water and stir until all of the gelatin has dissolved.
Next pour in the vinegar and glycerin mixture. Stir.
