1. Boltar
John Callicos, the actor who played Boltar in the original Battlestar Galactica was definitely a good actor, but there were some rather humorous elements about his character. For one, in the first episode after he gets his Cylon Base Star, he is perched in his chair - which was supposed to look intimidating, but looks very cheesy, when you look at his beer gut saying "hello" to everyone watching the show. Now, as a kid, he was quite intimidating on his perch, but you tend to see things a little differently when you grow up...
A really comical scene involving Boltar occurs during the episode in which the Pegasus and the Galactica find each other. Boltar is flying with two Cylons, he looks extremely silly in his Cylon helmet, which doesn't appear to be completely symmetrical, and looks like it was made out of plastic.
2. The Cylons
First of all, why in the world did it take three Cylons to fly their ships? And if it took three Cylons to fly their ships, why were they such terrible shots?
The Cylons, for the most part, seemed like a pretty clumsy bunch of robots. They were pretty good at getting themselves blown out of the sky by the Vipers, and they didn't seem to fare much better in regular combat. The most intimidating display of a Cylon who could hold his own was "red eye", but that was only because he was going up against men who had old western style guns to fight him with.
Now, the Cylon costumes were hard to see in and all, so the actors who portrayed them deserve credit, but the most hilarious display of all occurs in the episode with the ice planet and the big guns, where a Cylon actually uses a pole to walk down a flight of stairs. Talk about a clumsy robot!
