American Idol's Rod Stewart Week - April 18, 2006

Contestants Tackle "Rod Stewart Classics"

Tonight's theme was Rod Stewart. Despite expecting the popular Rod Stewart hit "Do ya Think I'm Sexy," we soon were entertained with thefact that this was more than just Rod Stewart week. In fact, the contestants were singing anything that had been written within 50years of Rod Stewart's
career. This included songs we don't think Rod Stewart ever sang, such as "Someone to Watch Over Me" (sung by McPhee).

Chris: Did anyone else notice that Chris was completely robbed of an intro tonight? He was the only contestant that didn't have a clip of the invaluable Rod Stewart coaching session. He was also denied a sob story about how all he's ever wanted is to sing a song that was written within 50 years of Rod Stewart's fame.

Maybe Fox doesn't think Chris needs the extra airtime. Whatever the case, not cool Fox. You were supposed to be fair. Oh wait, I forgot, you're Fox. As for Chris's performance, he's
phenomenal but I admit I found it a little boring. I'm starting to miss rocker Chris. We know you'll never please us all. At least Simon was happy this week.

Paris: Classy, but the pink suit? One week she's too young to be singing Beyonce and this week she's dressed like she's having a mid-life crisis. Her voice sounded incredible tonight and the crowd seemed to love her.

Taylor: Also incredible. It's hard for me to critique Paris or Taylor, since I found both of their performances to be the best I've ever seen them. Taylor had the perfect mixture of spunk and groundedness tonight. It was nice to watch him find a happy middle ground.

Elliot: He's got flawless vocals, a humble disposition and a real chance to be the black sheep that wins. He's so steady. He's happy, he's likable, and no one's expecting him to go far because he's not another tool. Each week he awes us, so I don't predict he'll be gone any time soon.

I agree with Jennifer. He obviously read the article if he took the time to complain about it. Keep writing about A.I., Debbie. We can't get enough!

Gee Timothy, that's funny that you're ragging on American Idol fans. Yet... you still read the article, didn't ya? Nice try. You KNOW you're a huge fan (hiding under a blanket with your earphones on so no one will hear you.) Tell me, do they still come running in if you get a little overzealous and start to sing along? How to you cover when that happens?

Jeez, man, don't you American Idol fans have a life? Believe me, I'll all for freedom of speech, but I am so freaking tired of hearing people speak about this glorified--and not as entertaining--Gong Show. Give it a rest and let someone who has written an article about something interesting have a shot.
