Denver is the capital city of Colorado. It is a large metropolitan area that has a population of nearly 2.5 million people. Denver has four distinct seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. You can expect snow in this are between the middle of October and the end of April. This makes Denver a hot ski destination. If you plan on vacationing during the summer you should be prepared for late afternoon thunderstorms.

Step 1: Find Denver Tourist Attractions to Visit

Denver is a great town. It has both modern and historical attractions that will cater to the interests of everyone in your family. While you are here make sure that you visit: the Downtown Aquarium, the Denver Botanical Gardens, the Molly Brown House Museum and the Colorado History Museum.

Step 2: Find a Place to Stay

Denver offers you historical B&Bs, modern luxury hotels, budget motels and super low priced campgrounds. When making your lodging decisions make sure that you take into consideration what time of year you plan on visiting Denver, how many people are in your family and what type of vacation you want to have. If you are interested in a truly wild adventure then you will want to stay at a local campground like the Cherry Creek Campground, the Coast to Coast Resorts, the Flying Saucer RV Park, the South Park Mobile Home Park or the Chatfield Campground. If your family wants running water and video entertainment at night then you can stay in a local hotel like the Brown Palace Hotel, Candlewood Suites Denver, Comfort Inn Downtown or the Holiday Inn, just to name a few.

Step 3: Summer Adventures

If you will be visiting while the whether is warm and sunny, or cool and sunny, then you can select from hiking adventures, climbing adventures, mountain biking adventures and water adventures.

If you are interested in hitting the trails then there are at least 6 trail systems located within 30 miles of Denver including: Beaver Brook Trail, Bergen Trail, Long Hollow Trail, Missouri Gulch Trail, South Monitou Park Trail and the Winding Stairs Trail.

Great article, but the skiing is not in Denver, it's in the mountains. I was expecting you to say skiing "near" Denver, not "in" Denver. You did a really great job writing this, though. I think that having been a "Denverite" in the past, I always get upset when people say the skiing and the mountains are "in" Denver, when they are actually not. LOL So, don't be offended.
