Pubic Lice

Imagine little insects crawling all over your pubic area. Well some people do have little insects crawling on their pubic area and the insects are called pubic lice. They are very similar to hair lice in that they latch onto your pubic hairs using their claws and feed on your blood for food. A person can have hundreds of these little pubic lice attached to their hairs. Female lice lay their eggs beneath your pubic hairs and within ten days the eggs hatch. Many people are not aware of pubic lice. I am going to share with you how a person can get pubic lice, what the symptoms are and how someone with pubic lice can be treated. Pubic lice are transferred from one person to another. So sexual contact with someone who has pubic lice is the most common way of getting it. It's good to find out if the person you are going to sleep with has lice or not. Sometimes the other person may not know they have pubic lice. It may not be easy for them to see that they have pubic lice. Other ways you can contract the lice is sleeping in the same bed and using the same toilet as someone with pubic lice. I personally avoid sitting on public toilets for fear of contracting the pubic lice.
The most common symptom is intense itching in the pubic area. With a close look you may be able to see the eggs attached to the pubic area and the lice crawling around.
Often the attached eggs, with the feeding from the lice cause a person to itch and scratch. The scratching can make the pubic area red, soar and eventually some bleeding could occur.
Pubic lice won't just disappear they needed to be treated. A doctor will most likely prescribe a cream that you would apply on the pubic hair. Like hair lice your doctor will recommend combing the hair to get the lice off. Anything that has had possible contact with the pubic hair area needs to be clean. For example, underwear, pants, skirt, shorts, bedding, furniture and anything else that comes to mind. They should be washed in hot water and dried in high heat.
Pubic lice are no fun for anyone and should be treated right away. Without treatment the lice will continue to grow and spread. The conditions of the pubic area will become severe.
