Vacation in Switzerland

The picture-perfect image of Switzerland can become real if it is your chosen vacation destination. This land of mountains, lakes, picturesque villages, incredible chocolate, and on-the-dot punctuality is real, from hiking the Swiss Alps to the giant flower clock in Geneva.

The Swiss take hospitality very seriously, and even the least expensive hostels and bed and breakfast inns will be clean and provide superb service. Many cities even offer full apartments to rent for a few weeks.

Although it has the reputation of an icy financial center, Zurich is a favorite of many repeat travelers to Europe. It offers plenty of activities and can boast as one of the most beautiful shopping areas in Europe. Pastry shops line the street, providing substance to visit the Fraumunster, one of the most unique churches in all of Europe, Swiss National Museum, Botanical Garden, and Urania Observatory. At night, the city lights up with the energy of many clubs and trendy restaurants.

Hiking the Swiss Alps is probably the best and most well-known reason to travel to Switzerland. Many companies offer small tours with less than twelve people per group. Tours take you along the trail with famous mountains such as the Matterhorn as the picturesque backdrop. The terrain includes clear and pristine lakes, flowery meadows, and snowy mountains. Plus there are numerous inns and scrumptious meals from the hospitable Swiss along the way.

If you want to see the most international city in the world first, explore the old town of Geneva. Besides the incredible shopping, you can view the Jet d'Eau (the famous fountain) and take guided tours of the United Nations. Don't forget to pick up some chocolate before leaving.

Come summertime, Lucerne hosts the famous International Music Festival each year. But this town also has the peaceful lull of the River Reuss, and one-of-a-kind Kapellbrücke.

For artists, Lausanne is home to one of Europe's most curious art collections at the Musée de l'Art Brut. Included in this city is the Olympic Museum, the Palais de Rumine, and an inspiring Gothic cathedral.
