Honolulu Corrections Officer Pleads Guilty to Beating Inmate

Honolulu - Basho Elliot, 44, of Lahaina was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison after he was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and attempt to possess with intent to distribute more than one pound of cocaine. Elliot was arrested when a Fed Ex parcel that contained over four pounds of cocaine was sent to his co-conspirator John Meston. Elliot was then arrested once the package had been delivered, reports the AP.
Honolulu - A 52 year-old man is left dead after officers responded to a call that a man had barricaded himself in his home. The call came from the man's wife who said her husband had been distraught and that there had been firearms in the house. Police evacuated five homes in the area until the situation could be controlled. Unfortunately a single gun shot was heard from outside, the man whose name has yet to be released was pronounced dead after only 30 minutes, reports the AP.
Honolulu - Victorio Barayuga has been charged with the stabbing death of his 61 year-old wife, Liwliwa Barayuga on June 13th in Kalihi. Barayuga is to be charged formally today for second degree murder. Officers who arrived at the scene of the crime say that Liwliwa was already dead and Victorio had been in critical condition with his wrist slashed in an apparent suicide that was botched. He was taken to Queen's Medical Center, once released he was arrested. Barayuga is being held on $100,000 bond, according to the Hawaii Channel.
