With summer here and the temperatures rising here is a list of fun things to do in the borough of Queens and best of all each event is free. So get out and enjoy the summer.

If you like Jazz the Jazz Mobil will make 2 stops in Queens this summer. The first is on July 23rd when The James Spalding Sextet will perform at the Brooks Senior Center in Jamaica. The Brooks Senior Center is located at 143-22 109th Avenue in Jamaica. The Second stop will be on August 9 when Lonnie Youngblood will perform at the 198th Street Block Association in Hollis, 111-12 198th Street. Both concerts begin at 7 PM. Other free concerts in Queens this summer can be found at the following locations.

Astoria Park located at Shore Blvd Hell Gate Bridge and the swimming pool. There is a concert every Thursday till August 2, beginning at 7:30. This concert series includes:

July 5th - The Platters

July 12th - Elsbeary Hobbs Drifters

July 19th - Cab Calloway Orchestra

July 26th Cornell Cunter's Coasters

August 2nd - The Marvelettes

Forest Park in Rego Park located at Woodhaven Blvd and Forest Park Drive also has free concerts on Thursday's beginning on July 5th. Each concert begins at 7:00 PM

July 5th - 1970's Music

July 19th Music of Frank Sinatra

July 26th Kirsten Thein

August 2 - Ray Abrams Swing Band

August 9 - Plastic Sole (50's to 70's music)

The Queens Symphony will also perform concerts at Forest Park on July 29, August 5 and August 12. Each concert will begin at 5 PM.

Free concerts will also be held at Queensbridge Park at Vernon Blvd and 41st in Long Island City

July 31 with the rap group Whodini
August 7th with the R & B group the Manhattans
August 14th with the rap group McShan.

And finally Springfield Park on 147 AVE & 184 ST has the following concerts:
July 26th R & B musician Felix Hernandez performs,
August 2nd Jazz musician Jay Ayers performs
August 9th the legendary Percy Sledge will perform.

If you like to dance the following parks offer free Dancing Under the Stars. Free lessons will be given at each event and then you can dance the night away.
