The Movies of John Cusack

John Cusack has never won an Oscar for his acting or for that matter never been nominated. Since beginning his movie career in the 1983 teen comedy Class, John Cusack has put together a solid resume of work over the past 20 years. Here are some of John Cusack's most memorable roles.

1) The Sure Thing (1985) In this romantic teen comedy, Cusack plays Walter Gibson a college freshman who heads to California during spring break to meet what he believes will be a "sure thing". He shares a ride with Alison (played by Daphne Zuniga) who is also going to meet her boyfriend. This is a somewhat predictable road comedy, they initially hate each other and the trip is anything but smooth sailing. But over the course of the trip they begin to fall for each other. Though it is predictable there are some very funny moments and John Cusack lays the ground work for two of his more famous early move roles.

2) Better Off Dead (1985) One of my favorite early Cusack movies, he plays Lane Meyer a typical teenager who is crushed when his girlfriend breaks up with him. In a constant state of depression Lane struggles to get on with life as he tries to win back his girlfriend. A very funny silly movie that will keep you laughing all the way through.

3) One Crazy Summer (1986) John Cusack plays Hoops McCann a recent High School graduate who spends the summer with his friends on the Island of Nantucket. While there he meets Cassandra (played by Demi Moore) and helps her save her grandfathers house from greedy land developers. Like Better Off Dead this movie is funny and silly and will keep you laughing from beginning to end.

4) Eight Men Out (1988) Here John Cusack starts to take on adult roles as he plays Buck Weaver a member of the 1919 Chicago White Sox who were accused of throwing the World Series. This is a true story and Cusack gives a solid performance as Weaver who maintained his innocence throughout but in the end suffered the same fate as his teammates, who were all given a lifetime suspension from baseball.
