Independence Day gives us the opportunity to acknowledge how blessed we truly are. The spirit of patriotism and overflow of emotions that are connected to this day expressed who we are as a people. Nothing shows how we feel better than red, white, and blue fireworks lighting up the night skies. Since 1777 fireworks have been used to celebrate our independence from the United Kingdom of Great Britain. In 2006, an estimated 9,200 people were injured in the US by firework-related injuries. So with 4th of July around the corner, firework safety is very important. The safest way to enjoy fireworks on 4th of July is to leave it up to the professionals. The professionals offer exceptional firework presentations and allow you to relax and stay out of harms way.
However, for those of you who can't refrain from setting up your own fireworks, American Pyrotechnics Association provides these following tips.
Always read and follow label directions on all fireworks carefully to make sure you are properly using the product. Have an adult present when using fireworks; never give fireworks to small children and never leave older kids unsupervised with fireworks.
Buy from reliable sellers. Use fireworks outdoors only. Always have water handy (a garden hose and a bucket), and when you're finished with sparklers and other fireworks, soak them so you know they're out.
Never experiment or make your own fireworks and make sure you light only one at a time. Never relight a "dud" firework (wait 15 to 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water). If necessary store fireworks in a cool, dry place. Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in a tartan cloth.
*Never throw or point fireworks at other people.
*Never carry fireworks in your pocket.
*Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
*Stay away from illegal explosives.
The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework.
