For those of you Louisvillians who think you can only see fireworks at Thunder Over Louisville, think again! There are several Fourth of July Celebrations in the Louisville area this weekend and early this weekend. I have chosen to include some larger ones as listed in the local newspaper, the Courier Journal.

In Crescent Hill, at the Peterson-Dumesnil House, 301 S. Peterson Ave., there will be activities begin at 7:30 and lasting until 10:30 pm. on Wednesday, the Fourth . They will have a 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m. followed by a bike tour at 9 a.m.. Throughout the day, there will be children's games, a cake wheel, arts and crafts, a plant sale, and music. They will also be having a pet show, a silent auction, an antique car parade, and fireworks following all the festivities at 10:30.

On the Fourth, itself as well as the day before, Waterfront Park, located on River Road, is having fireworks, Radio Disney. a play area, a puppet show with the Squallis Puppeteers, and various music acts. Of course, food vendors there will be plenty of food vendors, so please no coolers, bottles or cans and no skateboards or bicycles

Whatever you chose do for the Fourth, whether it is watching a fireworks display or enjoying a family cookout. Remember to have fun and be safe. Don't drink and drive. Be sure to wear sunscreen if you are outside and enjoy your day off.

And for those of you who are looking for a little fun after the Fourth, check out the Farnsley-Moremen House. According to their website, they will be having an Old-fashioned Ice Cream Social from 1-6 p, on Sunday July 6th. They will have musical entertainment by Hot Club of Derby Town and Flashpoint, as well as house tours and carriage rides. For the kids, there will be children's games, a miniature train ride, a petting zoo with farm animals and a magician. And, of course, what is an ice cream social without ice cream and the ice cream eating contest at 3:00. Other food will be provided by the Kentucky Cattelman's Association. Sounds like a fun day for everyone. For more information, please view their website at www.riverside-landing.org.

Ha, they mentions the bands name and everything else but then just say "train ride, a petting zoo with farm animals and a MAGICIAN. " ahahahahahahahahaha. The magician is probably doing it for free and they told him "we'll get this mentioned in the "news" hahahahaha.
