Hampton Roads, Virginia, July 4th Events Feature Picnics, Fireworks and Parades

Virginia Beach Events:
The traditional picnic at Mount Trashmore, 310 Edwin Drive, is from 4pm-10pm. Music by Butter and Bootylicious. Bring a picnic, blanket, and lawn chairs. Food purchases also available. Lots of children's activities and music. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm.

The Stars & Strips Explosion! at the Oceanfront is an all-day event, with musical performances by Firefall at the 24th Street park at 8:45pm & 10pm, The Beatles Tribute at the 17th Street park at 7pm & 10pm, and the Symphonicity and Virginia Beach Chorale at the 20th Street stage at 8pm. Part of the Beach Street USA production, fireworks will be launched offshore from a barge near 20th street, just after the Symphonicity concert. This could be the area's most unforgetable place-to-be.

Norfolk
Norfolk hosts the Great American Picnic and Fireworks at Town Point Park, downtown, between Waterside and Nauticus. Scheduled events include a Navy Re-enlistment ceremony at 7:30pm, followed by the US Navy Fleet Band at 8pm. Fireworks, over the Elizabeth River, will begin at 9:30pm.

Chesapeake
Lakeside Park, at 1441 Bainbridge Blvd, in the South Norfolk region of the city, is the location of the 27th annual 4th of July celebration. This is an all-day event, beginning with a parade, at 10am from the South Norfolk Baptist Church to Lakeside Park. There will be plenty of family entertainment, including sack races, food, music, and arts and crafts.

Portsmouth
Cradock's Historic Patriotic Salute begins with a children's bike parade at Afton Parkway and George Washington Highway at 9:30am. Music and a flag ceremony continue at the Cradock gazebo.

Newport News
Victory Landing Park is the place to be from 6pm to 10pm for this city's 4th of July Stars in the Sky celebration. The renowned Little River Band will perform at 8:30pm, preceded by The Connells at 6:30pm.

Hampton
Historic Fort Monroe begins the celebration with a 50-gun salute at 11:55am and ends with fireworks at 9:30pm. In-between are TRADOC Rock at 7pm and a performance by Tanya Tucker at 8:30pm.
