Although the tight end position is not as glorified as the running back, receiver and quarterbacks in fantasy football, they can still produce a good amount of points on game day. Consider the tight ends who are very much involved in the passing game like Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez. These players consistently make plays on game day and can find the end zone. Here are my top fantasy football tight ends.

(1) Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers: Bye Week 7
Gates is the go-to-guy in San Diego's passing game and will continue to put up big numbers in the NFL. His fantasy football value has been the highest among tight ends for the last two years and he will continue to be the highest rated TE going into the 2007 season.

(2) Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City Chiefs: Bye Week 8
The biggest concern with Gonzalez is the inability to get in the end zone as much. In 2006, he only scored five times. However, receiving yardage has never been a problem. After Antonio Gates is off the draft board, Gonzalez is the next best option at tight end.

(3) Chris Cooley, Washington Redskins: Bye Week 4
Cooley is the best emerging tight end/H-back in the game today. His numbers have been very consistent in his short career, scoring at least 6 touchdowns in each of his three seasons. He will be ranked pretty high most fantasy football leagues so don't hesitate to draft him if he's still available.

(4) Kellen Winslow, Cleveland Browns: Bye Week 7
Last season, we were able to see the talent of Kellen Winslow. When healthy, he's one of the most talented athletes in the game. His number struggled in 2006 because of an average passing game. He only scored three times. He's still very valuable and with a few more touchdowns, he can be a big point producer for your team.

(5) Jeremy Shockey, New York Giants: Bye Week 9
Shockey is big, strong, and very talented. However, this means nothing when it comes to fantasy football. He averages about 7 touchdowns a season and about 700 receiving yards. If Eli Manning became more productive for an entire season, Shockey's number may be much greater than what it has been.
