Lifetime channel new what they were doing when they cast a show in this summer lineup from Marc Gordon who also executive produced the mega hit Grey's Anatomy. This dramatically wonderful show, Army Wives comes at the perfect time where there are thousands of women who can relate to the problems and joys of being married to a man in the Army. It's also the highest rated series in Lifetime Channel history. The five main characters are a delight as there are 4 women and one man who have to hold down the home front while their spouses are in the Army. Each one has its own colorful and believable story and you find yourself drawn to them. My favorite is Roxy Leblanc. She is the fiery character with her own special comedic relief. She married a soldier after only 4 days of knowing him. There is also Pamela Moran who shows a very real struggle with trying to deal with financial ruin as she tries to keep her and her family's head above water, Denise Sherwood who has a teen son who secretly abuses her when her husband isn't around, and finally the very stable Claudia Joy Holden who may have life suddenly change on her in the wake of a tragedy. The one man main character is a unique twist to the Army wives. Roland Brown, a psychiatrist who has to deal with an extremely strong and sometimes overbearing wife who is a very high ranked commander in the Army.
This show is a mix of soap opera, close friendship, drama, and marriage and it all falls together perfectly. I especially like the bond that all these women have even though they live very separate and different lives. You can watch it on lifetime at Sundays 10 PM eastern and if you miss that episode you can watch an encore of it the following Monday at 8 eastern time. Also if you want to watch clips of upcoming episodes and get more in depth information about the show you can go to lifetimetv.com. The website also offers blogs to read written by actual military wives. They talk about what it's like being married to a man in the military and their take on the show, Army Wives.
