The beach is my favorite place to spend the fourth of July. It's the least expensive way to celebrate and also the most enjoyable. How could relaxing on the beach in 80-90 degree weather with a body soothing beach breeze not be fun? If you are planning on going to a San Diego beach for the 4th, check out these tips for a stress-free trip.
What to bring to the beach. If you're going to the beach to party with a group of friends and you are of legal drinking age- you will need a cooler; preferably a large cooler so that you can fit food and assorted drinks into it. And bring your ID because you may get carded.
If you aren't of legal drinking age and you plan on drinking- watch out! The cops will be on the prowl. My friend got an MIP (minor in possession) for holding her boyfriend's beer for him- she wasn't even drinking. On most beaches in San Diego, glass bottles aren't allowed. So remember the plastic cups! If you forget, you can always go to the nearest fast food joint and pick some up for a few bucks. Buy a large soda cup so you can fit more in to it- the water cups are tiny.
Barbeques at the beach are always fun, but they can be a hassle as well as more expensive than bringing simple food. Sometimes the barbeques are better left in the backyard. Packing sandwiches and munchies in the cooler is a comfortable way to eat at the beach. Fruits and veggies are great additions too. A radio is always nice to have, although if you forget one don't stress- there will probably be at least 5 different radios bumping on the beach in your vicinity. And if you have a tiny radio, prepare to be blasted out by a larger radio.
