For many of us, pets are part of our family.  Their quirks and interesting mannerisms add so much to our lives and we couldn't imagine life without them.  There are many hotels in Maryland that welcome your pets with open arms.

When traveling with pets, their safety is paramount.  Allow your pet to get familiar with their kennel so that they are comfortable while traveling in it.  If you are driving with your pet, make sure they are safely in their crate.   Give them travel sickness pills if they are prone to motion sickness.Pets will feel more comfortable if they have a favorite toy or a familiar item in their crate.  Carry a copy of the pets medical history in case he/she gets sick and needs to see a vet.

La Quinta  in Waldorf, Maryland welcomes cats and dogs up to 50 pounds.  Sheraton , in College Park,  has  a dog welcome kit, dog beds, food and water bowls, pet friendly rooms near exits and stairs, and waste removal bags. They do, however, only allow dogs.  Savage River Lodge  in Frostburg allows pets in their cabins but not in the main lodge.

There are some directories that provide information about pet-friendly lodging in maryland.  Pets Allowed Hotels is a directory filled with information and hotel pet policies.  The Admiral Fell Inn, Biltmore Suites, Brookshire Inns and Clarion Peabody Court Hotel, all in Baltimore, offer comfortable accomodation for pets.  StayBridge Suites by Holiday Inn is based in Columbia.  River House Inn in Snow Hill, Maryland (on the Eastern Shore) Charges a minimal fee for dogs.  Studio 6 offers comfortable short-stay accommodations for you and your pets.

If you need to get special toys for your pet, you can get them from the Pet's on the Go website.  They have wonderful travel accessories and fun toys to keep your pet happy.
