According to a report at Gamespot, the banned video game Manhunt 2 in the UK now has a petition. On the Number 10 Downing Street website, a petition for the video game has been created. This petition is in protest against the British Board of Film Classification's ruling that the game would be illegal to sell in the UK. The game would not be illegal to own, but would be illegal for a business to sell the game.

The petition for Manhunt 2 has 1,892 signatures so far based on information from the petition website. Anyone who wants to sign the petition has until August 25, 2007. The website says that this ruling has denied adults the ability to purchase the game in their country.

The petition says, according to the petition website, "Adults should be allowed to make their own decisions with regard to what video games they want to play. We all understand that this game is extremely violent and unsuitable for children. As such, an 18 rating should have been applied."

Manhunt 2 is the first UK game to be banned from a rating in ten years. The first game that was banned was Carmaggedon. The decision to ban this game was changed, and Carmaggedon was then released to the public. The board says Manhunt 2 was too violent for the UK gaming public.

Manhunt 2 was first scheduled to be released this July on the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 2 and the Playstation Portable System. The release for the United States has been temporarily suspended due to the incident in the UK. In the U.S., Manhunt 2 was rated Adults Only. Nintendo and Sony do not like "Adults Only" titles on their systems. As a result, the game has been delayed here in the United States.

Manhunt 2 shouldn't be banned. No video game should be banned for violent content. This game needs to come out. I think that everybody should play Manhunt 2. Violent video games need to stop being attacked and they need to be defended. I hope that violent video games are defended by everybody out there. I think that people who are against violent video games need to shut up and let people do whatever they want. I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said something along the lines of living in a free country means that you can do anything you want as long as it doesn't interfere with the freedoms of another person. Violent video games are here to stay. A country truly isn't free if people can't have the freedom to choose their own entertainment.
