My favorite episode of Family Guy is Model Misbehavior which premiered July 25, 2005. This episode of Family Guy depicts a time when the Griffins decide to visit Lois' parents. Lois has a realization that her father prevented her from realizing her lifelong dream of becoming a model, such that when she returns to Quahog, she begins to model. Lois is a star almost immediately; however, the glamorous world inflates her head and Peter, the Family guy, steps in to get Lois back to normal. Also in the episode, Stewie creates a business pyramid scheme and employs Brian to help him.

This is the best episode of Family Guy because its one of the few where its Lois who is doing something wrong rather than Peter. It's nice to see that Peter isn't the only flawed one in the family. Most plots revolve around Peter, and its smart and it's a funny show but its not as if the show needs to poke fun at Peter every single chance it gets. This episode is just as smart and wonderful as all the others and for once its not about Peter's faults, its about Lois' and I appreciated the change.

"I'm going to do something called a compliment sandwich" Stewie decries. His management style is really fun and cute and Family Guy is just a fun show. Lois' transformation is also treated with gaiety despite still having a message of fun. Sure, it makes its message known to the masses by going like "Pooping… is it the new vomiting?" It's sad and a little over the top but the message is clearly there against anorexia in models. The show will never be the Simpsons in underhanded creativity but Family Guy does a fair job and this episode really shows it.

That's the point of Family Guy… to be fun, it makes all the same references that The Simpsons does but it does it funnily because it pokes more fun at the characters (particularly Peter). The show is essentially the same except there is something lovable about Homer Simpson. Peter is usually just wrong and has to apologize for it at the end of the episode.

Takeaways
  • Family Guy is just a fun show.
