Did you know that homemade hair products work just as well, if not better, than the expensive ones you buy at the store? It is far cheaper to make your own rinses and conditioners at home, as well. You decide just what goes into them and can alter the recipes to fit your personal preferences.

What kind of hair treatment you make really depends on what result you want. Do you want shinier, softer hair? Or do you want to enhance your red highlights? Prefer to go a bit more blonde? There are rinses for pretty much anything you want and as they are natural, you don't have to worry about harsh chemicals ruining your hair.

A simple mixture of apple cider vinegar and water, mixed half and half, lends a lovely shine to oily hair and cuts through product build-up as well as grease. You can make this recipe up ahead of time and store it in a plastic squeeze bottle in the fridge. Just apply it after you shampoo your hair, let it sit for a minute and then rinse. You may want to add some essential oil to mask the acrid smell of the vinegar.

For super soft, full-bodied hair, try mixing 3 tablespoons of Epsom salt into a beaten egg. Add a tablespoon of warm mayonnaise and massage through your hair. Let sit for five minutes and then rinse with warm water. This should leave your hair soft and full and if you have a perm, it will also help it stay curlier longer.

To combat frizzy hair, try this handy recipe. Mix two tablespoons of plain yogurt with a beaten egg and 1 tablespoon of liquid honey. Massage through your hair and leave the treatment in for five minutes. Rinse with warm water to get rid of all the honey. This treatment works well on fly always and frizz.

Lemon or lime juice diluted with a bit of water is the ideal rinse for blonde hair. It helps bring out the highlights and if left on while you sit in the sun, will enhance the blonde. This is a rinse best used on natural blondes, there is no guarantee it won't have adverse affects on your dyed hair. Use a spray bottle to spritz hair before hitting the beach for a lighter top layer. Rinse as normal.
