Red, White and Brew: Patriotic Tea

A red, white and blue color scheme is perfect for a traditional Independence Day celebration. Here are some theme-colored tea recipes to brew for your patriotic picnic this 4th of July.

Raspberry Honey Iced Tea
(Makes 4 servings)
4 cups water
½ cup honey
4oz frozen raspberries
2 teabags
4 teaspoons lemon juice

Preparation:
*Bring the water to a boil
*Remove from the heat and add the honey
*Stir until the honey dissolves
*Add the raspberries and tea bags
*Cover and steep for 5 minutes
*Strain into a pitcher, discarding the raspberries and tea bags
*Add the lemon juice
*Refrigerate until chilled.
*Serve over ice.

Spicy Chai Iced Tea
(Makes 4 servings)
4 cups boiling water
4 black tea bags
4 teaspoons cardamom
4 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup evaporated milk
Ice as needed

Preparation:
*Add the tea bags and cardamom to the boiling water
*Steep for 5 minutes.
*Strain into a pitcher, discarding the tea bags and cardamom
*Refrigerate until chilled
*Put 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 cup of milk to in each glass.
*Add ice as needed.
*Add the chilled brewed tea,
*Stir and serve

Blueberry Iced Brew
(Makes 4 servings)
5 cups fresh blueberries (or thawed out frozen blue berries)
2 ½ cups vanilla ice cream
2 ½ cups brewed green or black tea, cooled
½ cup milk
½ tablespoon ground cinnamon

Preparation:
Place all your ingredients to a blender and blend smooth.
Serve immediately.
