The problem, I have OSTEOPOROSIS.

I was born in England just after World War II when rationing was still going on. We had very poor nutrition, especially dairy food. Needless to say I lacked calcium. I lost my teeth when I was in my twenties, and had surgery to remove bones in my toes, in my thirties.

After having a bone density test I was put on medication from my doctor and told to take Tums. These are great. They are chew-able. Come in wonderful flavors, tropical, berries and wintergreen. They are 'My Little Helpers'. By taking one extra strength Tums morning, noon and night, I am getting sufficient calcium to help my bones. It has been proven that too much at one time, is just wasting money. They are best spread out over the entire day. Some people say they leave a chalky taste in the mouth, but berries are my favorite and leave a good taste. I just crunch one after each meal. I normally drink a glass of water after eating one, but it is not necessary.

There are many other products out there that do the same thing, but cost 2 - 3 times more. I truly believe in them, and the natural way I now get my calcium.

I also keep them for heartburn as they are so reasonably priced at around $4.00 for 96 tablets.

I suggest that both men and women take them on a regular basis. Men get osteoporosis as well. It has always been thought a women's problem, but guys do youselves a favor, and take Tums on a daily basis. You will be pleased when you reach my age, and not have to worry if you fall. I fractured my wrist and have a broken bone sticking out of my ankle.

They are packaged in a great shaped bottle. No chance of taking the wrong item from the medicine cabinet.

I choose to take the 300mg tablets, but they are also available in 200mg and 400mg.

For further information check their site out at http://www.tums.com/

I have had no side effects with Tums

My doctor requires me to take 2,000 mgs of calcium a day. By taking a multi-vitamin, Tums, fat free milk, dairy products, yogurt, etc I make sure of getting my daily needs. I also take weekly fosamax, exercise on a regular basis, and have given up caffeine to regain bone and it is working great.

Barbara, I hope you do well on fosomax. I have been taking it for 9 years and have to leave 10 days between the pills. My stomach gets so swollen and uncomfortable.

Hi Suzie, I also use Ultra Tums, for calcium, as My stomach can not handle calcium pills. Mary

Well written, Susan. I have to have extra calcium because I'm taking the Depo Provera contraceptive injection and that can cause bone density loss. Sophie
