through their production area run by Bill Fellows, who has been with the company for over twenty years. It is the only place in the Louisville or Jeffersonville area that visitors can do so. Bowles offers a variety of products, and prices range from $120 for a twin size set to $999 for a King size visco foam set.

Visco foam is a memory foam that conforms to the shape of a person's body. It is made in a one sided mattress similar that is very popular in today's market.. Bowles Mattress also sells foam encased, pillow top and soft top mattress sets as well, but their sales are predominately standard two sided which can be flipped.

According to their web site, they can custom make any mattress set, including those for antique beds, waterbeds, truck sleepers, and boats. They also carry specialty mattresses for baby cribs, sofa beds, and rollaway beds, and also headboards, bed frames, rails, adjustable beds, and other accessories.

Founded by George and Opal Bowles, Bowles Mattress strives for excellence and Armstrong said that their service is immediate on most products that are in stock. They sell to furniture dealers in a 200 mile radius of their factory and to customers from their factory show room. Their son Billy Bowles is president of the company and their daughters, Karen Ritter and Alice Hartley, handle customer service and logistics.

"We are family owned and operated," Armstrong said. "We take a lot of pride and stand behind our product."

Armstrong also said that the Bowles mattress web site has some interesting features. On top of basics like contact information, the site will also list their products, explain company history, and offer important tips and information on sleep and sleep habits to help customers find the best mattress for them.
