BitDefender Antivirus 10: The Middle Line of Defense

The BitDefender Antivirus 10 is a two-in-one antivirus software that not only protects your PC from viruses, but also spyware and malware (malicious software) for an affordable price. For an additional $10, it will even provide you with a firewall program that will block out hackers and Trojan Horses that will try to enter your computer and take out information that may compromise you in the worse way possible.

Unlike the established antivirus softwares today, the BitDefender Antivirus 10 supports all versions of Windows (98 up to XP) and comes in a 60MB download. Downloading the software took me some 20 minutes on a 384Kbps broadband, and installing the BitDefender Antivirus 10 is straightforward and user friendly. And what makes it stand out from the rest is the two-year subscription for updates as well as two licenses, good for two computers.

One of the good things I liked about the BitDefender Antivirus 10 is that it doesn't suck up all the system resources you have, even on a powerful computer, since it targets the most commonly affected areas which is prone to virus attacks. Although it's not as lean, it can quietly scan your computer while doing something else that require much power, like gaming.

Uninstalling the BitDefender Antivirus 10 software does leave a lot of clutter so you may have to manually delete some of those folders if you don't wish to have a messy hard drive. For most it may not be a problem, but for some folks who are only limited to the point-and-click way of using a computer would have to know their way around it, unless they just leave it alone.

A tiny black box represents the BitDefender Antivirus 10 software at work, also known as the Scan Activity monitor and located just a little above the taskbar and will turn green, meaning it's already scanning your files while red represents the firewall at guard. Though right-clicking the box will only hide the thing, you may have to co through the BitDefender Antivirus 10 software's system settings to manually remove it if you think it's an eyesore.
