Fibromyalgia Treatment Using Ultram AKA Tramadol

About four months ago, my doctor prescribed for me a mild pain reliever, called Ultram. I was afraid to start taking something on a daily basis. But the bottom line is I have painful fibromyalgia. Doctors advise to use Ultram to treat the pain associated with this fibromyalgia.

This is not an article on fibromyalgia, as everyone is probably tired of hearing about it by now. This is about the added benefits of Ultram or Tramadol, that the doctor prescribed for me. There are not many times, you hare about extra benefits of medicine, but there are some wonderful
 added benefits of Ultram.

Ultram is a mild non narcotic pain reliever. While it is a non narcotic, the brain responds the same way to Ultram as it would to a narcotic pain reliever. Tramadol is another name that you might hear, as this is the generic name of Ultram. My doctor placed me on it for a month. Upon my return visit, I described to my doctor the extra positive effects I was having on Ultram. Upon checking out the company's web site and other web sites on the drug itself, there are a number of positive benefits that have been verified by patients. My doctor stated there were, but I wanted to find out if this was true or if it was all in my head. As Ultram was working, he placed me on it on an as needed basis.

The first positive benefit that you might find from Ultram is increased sleep. That one is easy to explain. If you are not in pain, you sleep better. Also, the medicine works on the brain to serve as a calming agent, and this also helps sleep. Some people claim they feel hyper on Ultram, but this has not been the effect for me.

The second positive benefit I noticed from Ultram was that I felt a bit happier. Not that I was depressed, but I actually felt like doing things and getting out of the house. When I researched this, I found out that the active ingredient in Ultram acts as a mild antidepressant, thus the elated moods.

Don't know about the quality or veracity of the article, but it actually appears to be advertising by means of a "testimonial," and nothing more - not even any clinical nor scientific backing. It even contained the standard kinds of disclaimers (e.g. potential for addiction, "see your doctor," etc.) The additional evidence for this is that links to this article are being posted as Spam on forum websites by new users that just "hit and run."

Just began treatment today for FM. Taking 300 mg of Ultram a day. So far, feeling fine. I took Ultram several years ago for chronic neck pain before having cervical surgery. Don't remember any side effects during or after use. It is nice to hear some positives. So far today searching comments, it has made me apprehensive to continue treatment. Is anyone taking cymbalta too? No history of seizures though the pharmacist was concerned when filling the prescription. Would like to hear any comments! Thanks.
