- Complimenting them for their good actions
If you are not passing out regular compliments then that's the first way that you should be praising your child. Let them know that they've done a good or great job, that you are proud of them, that they're doing just fine, and other compliments like those. Tell them how you appreciate what they are doing and that you are very happy for them. Don't stop complimenting them and telling them how you feel about their actions as this is one of the biggest praises you can give a child.
- Taking them out for a meal, movie, or other event
If on one of your days off you have the ability to take your child out for a meal at one of his/her favorite places then you should. You should also think about inviting them out for a movie or to go to an event around town if it's at all possible. Taking them out will just give them the motivation needed to do more good things.
- Buying them a small gift
Now this does not have to be done all the time, but on special occasions like a graduation or a presentation you may want to praise your child by getting him/her a small gift. Something like a nice pin, or a cap, or a stuffed animal would do just fine. Any gifts that they receive from mom and dad will become very special, treasured, and cherished forever; so take the time to obtain something to give them once in a while.
