Tips to Sell Your Stuff on Craigslist

Listing those things you just don't need anymore on Craigslist is a great way to make some extra cash. Here are some simple tips to maximize your chances of selling your items.Include a picture. People are more likely to click on your ad if they can tell there is a picture attached.
Be specific and honest. You will save the shoppers and yourself some time if you give a detailed description of your item, including the price. Disclose any defects (i.e., some scratches on table, minor rust on grill). You do not want to waste time exchanging e-mails with people over minor details or setting up appointments with people to buy or look at items that were misrepresented in the ads.
List your location. One of the best things about Craigslist is that it is based on local sales. Most Craigslist users are wary of scams that are more likely from national posters. People will be much more likely to read your ad if it has a local location listed.
Check your spelling. This is obvious, but it's amazing how many misspellings I see on Craigslist. Ads that are written clearly and correctly are taken more seriously.
Be patient. Although Craigslist is good if you need fast cash, it is ideal if you have a couple of weeks. That way you can start with a higher price and then lower the price if you are unable to generate interest after a few days.
Set up an account. If you are posting a few items, setting up an account will save you time.
Do some research. Before posting your ad, check out the other listings. This research will help you decide the best category for your item. This research may also help provide some guidance for pricing.
Respond promptly. Be sure to check your linked e-mail account regularly and to respond immediately to inquiries. In some cases your fast response may make the difference between a sale and a near miss.
Good luck!
