Navarre Beach has grown tremendously in the past ten years. It has also overcome some of the worst hurricanes to ever hit the panhandle of Florida. Navarre survived the wrath of hurricanes Erin and Opal in 95. Then in September of 2004 Hurricane Ivan terrorized the beaches of Navarre. The most recent, Hurricane Dennis raged through the city in 2005. Having sat on the beach a few weeks ago, one would never know that after the hurricane, the parking lot was covered in sand, debris filled the beach, and trees were toppled over. The City of Navarre took the last few years and revamped the city, making it just as beautiful as it was before the hurricane hit.
The water of Navarre Beach is almost see through. It is as if you are looking at crystal clear glass shimmering. The water is a beautiful blue-green. You can look down and see your feet, and the little fish swimming near your toes. Unlike many beaches in the U.S., Navarre's beach has actual sand, not dirt. The beautiful white sands that lay against the blue water, is post card perfect. Along the beach you can see children building sand castles, couples walking hand in hand, and friends throwing a Frisbee back and forth. It is perfect for family vacations, or friends just wanting to get away from it all for a while. Navarre is also wheelchair accessible and has a boardwalk that takes you directly to the beach.
