From clumpy mascara to lipliner overkill, makeup mishaps don't have to be a way of life. Here's how to avoid these beauty blunders. Your beauty blunders and the quick fix. The 10 biggest beauty mistakes... and how to fix them.

MAKEUP MISHAP: Sleeping in your makeup. At the end of a long day, removing your makeup may seem like a real chore. But sleeping in your makeup can wreak havoc on your skin. Makeup settles in the pores. It holds down the dead skin cells underneath that build up over the day, which puts you at greater risk for breakouts. QUICK FIX: Be sure to remove your makeup each day with a gentle remover. Oil-based creams tend to work the best. Even good old-fashioned vaseline or baby oil seems to work. Just make sure you follow it with a good cleanser to get that residue off and clear your pores. I always recommend an undereye cream and a night cream too.

MAKEUP MISHAP: Lip liner fumble. Mismatched or badly applied lipliner will leave your pout looking plastic and your overall look unnatural. QUICK FIX: If you're wearing a gloss or a light lipstick, ditch the liner entirely. It just looks fresher...and lipliner tends to age people. However, if you're going to for a matte look, try this technique for applying liner. Make little lines with the liner coming toward the inner part of the lip. That way when you put lipstick over it, it blends in a little. Stick with the same shade as your lipstick.

MAKEUP MISHAP: Liner mishap. Liquid liners are becoming increadingly popular, but, you've got to know how to apply them properly. There's nothing worse than looking at someone and seeing that whte line in between the lash line and eyeliner. It's distracting, you find yourself watching it. QUICK FIX: Try this technique for perfectly lined lids. Put your index finger on the corner of your eye lid and pull the skin up gently toward your ear. Then you can get that liner right on down to the lash line.
