The memories have been made. The pictures have been taken. Events and conversations are fresh on your mind. Now what?

Implement a system for creating albums that showcases your photos and highlights your memories. Your system should be simple to follow so that you can get caught up, and it won't be hard to fall behind.

These steps should help you become organized and get your albums underway.

Organize. You will find it much easier to work on your albums if you are organized. Create a system where you organize your photos in chronological order at first. Then, you can easily locate a photo when needed. Photo-safe, shoebox size storage boxes work well as well as the many sorting systems on the market. Be sure to label by month, year etc. Use a large table or floor-space free from pets or children to get the pictures in order. Also, as soon as you have new pictures printed, put them right into the box accordingly.

Determine what type of album you want to make. Will this album be a chronological family album, a vacation album, a Christmas album or otherwise? My advice to you if you are trying to get caught up on years of photos is to do a chronological family album. Simply going in order of when the pictured event occurred, it takes a lot of the planning aspect out of it. You can always go back later and duplicate pictures for specific event albums.

Determine which pictures to use in your album. Ok, this is where you go through your chronologically organized pictures and determine which you want to use for your album. Remember, you can always keep photos you decide not to use in your organization box. You may need them for a later project. Once you organize the pictures you plan to use, you will be able to work quickly. You can even go an extra step and layout a few pages at a time on a large table of flat area and then put them into albums. Then lay more out, put them in, and so on.
