Ask your lawyer

Most adoption lawyers can and will help couples hoping to adopt find a suitable birth mother for an independent adoption process. In fact, if you have hired an adoption lawyer specifically to help you through an independent adoption process then more than likely, he or she will know how to find a birth mother and will definitely help you find one. It is important to note however that some unscrupulous lawyers coerce or pressure birth mothers into giving their babies up for adoption. If you are keen on moral implications and upholding the rights of all parties involved, do take the time to ensure that you and lawyer are working with the same values.

Tell your friends

Openly announcing the fact that you are looking to adopt a new born to your circle of friends will help you spread the word and expand your network. Inform not only your close friends but also people from organizations and groups that you and your spouse are affiliated with. These people can help you by spreading the news further and eventually, somewhere along the network, someone is connected to a birth mother looking to give up her child for adoption.

Networking this will not cost you anything but its effectivity depends on whether your friends and other contacts will indeed spread the word around to their other friends and contacts. Unless your friends and other contacts feel compelled to help you, they probably will forget to spread the word about your wanting to find a birth mother and adopt a new born infant.

Classified ads

Go ahead and advertise that the fact that you are trying to find a birth mother and adopt a new born. Place ads in the classified section as well as through internet adoption services for international adoptions and through local adoption agencies as well. You can put up a website about you and your spouse and let people know that you are looking to adopt a new born and would like to meet a birth mother for this purpose. Put up advertisements and announcements in newsletters of pertinent organizations as well as through your family church. The congregation may be able to help you.
