No one likes a rainy day. Kids are no exception. Overcast skies tell us we can't play outside and make us feel bla. When kids feel bla they are cranky and restless. Here are five great indoor activities that will give your children something constructive to do ! Number one : Break out the art supplies!
Crayons, markers, colored pencils, and paints are a colorfully fun way to keep your child happy. What's even better is that your kids get to have time that they need to sharpen their fine motor skills. Even better than that is that this is a fun activity that parents can do with their children. Plain white paper, coloring books, or even construction paper works very well. To really top this activity off, break out the scissors and glue. You'll be amazed at how creative kids can be. Here's something fun to try...Let your children color or paint on plain paper. Once the pages are full and dry, let them cut them to pieces. Once they are cut up your kids can arrange and glue them as a collage!
Number two: Clay and play-doh Time!
Clay and play-doh are two things that children just love. Both come in a wide variety of funtastic colors. They are available at a low cost just about everywhere. You're children will love forming shapes, little sculptures, letters, or just about anything they can imagine. What's even more fun is to add some old cookie cutters to this activity. Here's a tip though...Have your children use the clay or play-doh at the kitchen table. This way if any falls on the floor it won't harm your carpet, and the table is an easy clean surface.
Number three: Read a story!
We all know how important it is to read with our children. What better to do to pass the time than read together? There are millions of books to choose from. The time you and your child spend reading together will benefit your both in many ways. Children need the time and attention. They need this time also for their listening and learning skills to develop. Early readers will benefit from hearing the correct pronunciation of words and sounds. Able readers can read along with you, sharpening their reading skills with each new word. Reading is a wonderful way to pass the time!
