There are at least five free different household items you already own which you can use to replace glue in in arts and crafts for kids, and in paper crafts.

Look in the junk drawer, find them in the closet, or in the garage. These five cheap household items can be used instead of more expensive arts and crafts supplies, or even in place of glue.

5 Free Alternative Materials to Replace Glue in Kid Crafts and Paper Crafts

1. Zip Ties

Instead of glue in kid crafts, use somem plastic zip ties.

Zip ties are used to keep all those wires attached to household electronics from making a seaweed-like mess.

The zip ties are usually plastic, although they can also be made of Velcro material. These zip ties create very tight bonds and can be used "behind the scenes" on your favorite arts and crafts material to keep items secure.

Zip ties are cheap household supplies and are sold in different lengths. Creative school-aged children can probably make an arts and crafts project just using the zip ties themselves.

2. Twist Ties

You can't find a cheaper household item to use in paper crafts and kid crafts than twist ties.

Twist ties are probably lurking around your silverware and junk drawers. Put them to good use in paper crafts. They offer a secure way to attach objects to assemblages, or to combine paper with paper, without glue.

Twist ties are very easy to work with, and can be flattened and hidden between pieces of paper in arts and crafts.

Save the different shapes, sizes and colors of twist ties that come on various household products: from loaves of bread, to garbage bags, to children's toy packages.

3. Shoelaces

Shoelaces are another cheap household item that can serve as arts and crafts supplies.

Old shoelaces that no longer can be use to tie a shoe can be washed and used in paper crafts. Use long strands of shoe laces to bind books in bookmaking, or tie them together.

Save old shoelaces, or the shoelaces that are too short to use in your shoes. Shoelaces in different colors and designs may also be purchased very cheaply for use in arts and crafts projects.

4. String
